The Blonde Naso Tang, also known as the Lipstick Tang or Orangespine Unicornfish (Naso elegans), is a stunning and graceful fish commonly found in the warm waters of the Indo-Pacific region. As its name suggests, it is characterized by its bright yellow or golden body coloration and a prominent, elegant dorsal fin.

This species is known for its peaceful and friendly nature, making it a popular choice for saltwater aquarium enthusiasts. However, it should be noted that Naso Tangs can grow quite large, reaching up to 16 inches (40 cm) in length, so a spacious aquarium of at least 180 gallons or more is recommended to provide enough swimming space for them.

The Blonde Naso Tang is generally amicable towards other tank mates, but like other tangs, it can exhibit territorial behavior, especially towards other tangs of the same or similar species. Providing adequate hiding spots and ample swimming space can help minimize any potential conflicts.

In the wild, this species primarily feeds on algae and other plant matter. Therefore, a varied diet that includes high-quality marine-based pellets, seaweed sheets, and occasional live or frozen brine shrimp and mysis shrimp is recommended to maintain their health and vibrant coloration.

Water quality is essential for the well-being of the Blonde Naso Tang. The ideal temperature range for their tank should be between 72°F to 78°F (22°C to 26°C), with a pH level of 8.1 to 8.4. Regular water changes and proper filtration are necessary to maintain excellent water conditions.

One distinctive feature of the Blonde Naso Tang is its elongated snout, which gives it the nickname "unicornfish." This unique adaptation helps them forage for algae in crevices and hard-to-reach areas on coral reefs.

Overall, the Blonde Naso Tang is a captivating and peaceful addition to a saltwater aquarium. Their striking coloration, friendly demeanor, and graceful swimming make them a favorite among many marine hobbyists. However, due to their large size and specific care requirements, they are better suited for experienced aquarists who can provide them with a suitable environment for their long-term health and well-being.
